Snow Day!

Today was a snow day and I am so grateful for it.  I needed a break in this long week and today was perfect.  My boy was perfect and so well-behaved and sweet today.  Today was truly a great day.  Even cleaning up the snow was great.  We got a lot more snow than they predicted.  It's alright, it's pretty outside and I didn't have to go anywhere.

Precious Hour

Today I was able to finish work a little early.  I had about an hour to myself before I needed to pick up my little guy at day care.  I'm extremely grateful for that hour today and for the coordinator and nurses at work who made that hour possible for me today.  I don't get a lot of time to myself, so that was very much appreciated.

Superbowl Sunday!

I'm grateful for football today.  I love the sport and the Seahawks winning it made my night.  I don't typically root for the Seahawks.  I'm a hardcore Patriots fan, but I think they deserved to win.

I'm also happy my sister stuck around to watch the game with me.  It made it immensely more fun and entertaining.  Speaking of fun and entertaining, I might as well throw in that I'm grateful for the existence of meme's and people's clever wit and humor.

Under the Weather

The last week has been challenging with Charlie being sick and then me catching what he had.  I'm happy Charlie is himself again, and I'm grateful that I'm not as sick as he was.

"Set Goals, Not Expectations"

I was originally inspired to start this blog after hearing about gratitude journals.  A gratitude journal is a journal where each day you write down a list of things you're grateful for.  The idea is to try to see your life more positively and realize all the things in your daily life, small or big, that are wonderful and you should be thankful for.  I really liked the idea and have designated a notebook I recently bought as my gratitude journal.  However, I also wanted a space to jot down more than just a simple list of things I'm grateful for perhaps to elaborate on my daily realizations.  I do want to keep this positive.  I'm not here to bitch (pardon, I do tend to get potty mouthy) and moan.

No one in the world has inspired me more than my little boy.  A lot of people think kids are stupid, but they really have a bounty of innocent wisdom that we tend to forget as we get older.  The title of this blog is a quote from him.  He comes home nearly every day from school saying, "I had a great day, Mommy!"  Even if the teacher said he had a rough day, he shakes his head and says he had a great day, which I think is an attitude worth adopting.

No worries, these posts will be short.  I just want to plop down something I'm grateful for and not get too cheesy.  My hope is that this will inspire some of you to focus more on the positive things you have in your life no matter how big or small.  Life could always be worse and probably is for someone else out there.  Let's learn how to appreciate our lives better.
